Rowan Trollope

Chief Executive Officer

Rowan Trollope is CEO of Five9, a leading provider of cloud contact center software for the enterprise. Rowan is passionate about how digital transformation revolutionizes the way we communicate, in particular how organizations bring personalized experiences to their customers. He joined Five9 as CEO in May 2018.

Rowan is a recognized Silicon Valley leader and has a depth of experience in software solutions and cloud innovation. He is a self-proclaimed geek and taught himself to program on a Commodore 64 at a local Radio Shack and holds a number of patents in computer security and operating systems.

Prior to Five9, Rowan was SVP and General Manager of Cisco’s Applications Group and a member of the executive leadership team. Under Rowan’s leadership he refreshed the entire collaboration technology portfolio, simplifying the product line and winning over 20 awards for outstanding product design.

Prior to Cisco, at Symantec he was Group President sales, marketing, and product development, responsible for cloud security and the SMB market. He developed and grew the company’s Software as a Service strategy and expanded their cloud-based delivery and customer support models.

Barry Zwarenstein has more than 35 years of financial leadership in the technology industry. Barry is responsible for the company's financial planning and operations.

Barry has been the CFO of several companies: He's managed three successful IPOs (Five9, VeriFone and Logitech), and played a significant role in the sale of SMART Modular Technologies to Silver Lake Partners for $635M and the sale of Acuson to Siemens Health Care for $700M. Barry was also CFO of Iomega Corporation and Mellanox Technologies. Barry holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Natal, South Africa and an MBA from the Wharton School of Business, University of Pennsylvania.

Barry's philosophy is to take a broad approach to the role of CFO and become an effective business partner across the entire organization. Barry's approach is to keep shareholders adequately informed, ensure sufficient funding, drive process improvements, and report accurate and timely financial information. A key element that connects these roles are in-depth, contextual analyses about all aspects of the business; something that is easily accomplished in a cloud company like Five9 since there is an abundance of consistent and coherent data. He also believes it is essential to have best-in-class, scalable, and integrated systems, as well as a strong, seasoned finance team.

Dan Burkland

President

Dan Burkland is responsible for global sales, including all direct, channels, business development and marketing. Since joining Five9 in 2009, Dan has grown annual revenues from under $20M to approach $200M. He is also responsible for all implementation, professional services, and customer support organizations. His organizations cover the entire customer life-cycle from sales to implementation to ongoing support – all critical to customer success from a Cloud Software company.

Dan has more than 30 years of experience building and scaling successful sales and leadership teams. Before Five9, Dan was SVP of Sales at Transera Communications. He also ran worldwide sales for IP Unity, growing the business tenfold, and held sales management positions at Cisco and GeoTel.

Scott Welch

Executive Vice President, Cloud Operations

Scott Welch is the executive vice president of cloud operations at Five9 and is responsible for technology operations, telecom services, and security. Scott is a seasoned executive with more than 24 years of experience in software development, technology operations, and management.

Prior to Five9, Welch spent ten-plus years at inContact where he managed a team responsible for several operational functions, including telecom operations, cost of goods, system and network administration, security, database administration, billing operations, network provisioning, and a 7x24 network operations center. Welch also held positions as vice president information services, vice president of application development, and information technology director at various technology companies prior to 2003.

Scott is driven by a strong desire to deliver technology for critical systems in a high tech environment. He believes that system availability is like air for customers, it’s necessary every moment and critical when you don’t have it. He takes pride in delivering results through a team that is just as passionate as he is about platform performance.

Mike Burkland

Executive Chairman, Five9

Mike Burkland joined Five9 as CEO in January 2008. Under Mike’s leadership as CEO for nearly 10 years, Five9 grew from an 80-person startup with $10 million in annual revenue to an 800-person public company with $200 million in annual revenue. Today Five9 is one of the largest and fastest growing independent providers of cloud contact center software. In December of 2017 Mike transitioned from CEO to Executive Chairman for health reasons.

Before Five9, Mike was the CEO of a handful of enterprise software and cloud companies in market segments ranging from systems management and content management to security and CRM. He has also led three private companies through successful acquisitions by larger public companies. Earlier in his career, he held various positions at Oracle and BMC. Mike holds MBA and BA degrees from the University of California at Berkeley.

Mike’s management philosophy is based on creating a team-oriented environment. In Mike’s view, building a successful company is analogous to building a winning sports franchise. It requires top talent, the right playbook and most importantly great team chemistry.

David Welsh

Managing Director, KKR

Dave Welsh is a Managing Director and is Head of TMT Growth Equity within KKR's Private Equity platform, where he serves on the TMT growth equity investment committee. Prior to joining KKR, Mr. Welsh was a Partner with Adams Street Partners, where he focused on technology growth equity investments. Earlier in his career he was an executive vice president of corporate development and strategy at McAfee, Inc., a general partner at Partech Ventures and a vice president of corporate development at Portal Software. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of Atlantis Computing and Five9 as well as being Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Athenian School.

Michael J. Burdiek

Michael J. Burdiek has served as the president and chief executive officer and also as a member of the Board of Directors of CalAmp since 2011. From 2006 to 2011, Michael held various positions at CalAmp, a global provider of wireless communications solutions, including president of CalAmp’s Wireless DataCom segment and president and chief operating officer. Prior to joining CalAmp, Michael was the president and CEO of Telenetics Corporation, a manufacturer of data communications products. From 1987 to 2003, Michael held a variety of technical and general management positions with Comarco Inc., most recently as senior vice president and general manager of Comarco's Wireless Test Systems unit. Michael holds a master’s degree in business administration and a master’s degree in electrical engineering from California State University, Fullerton, and a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Kansas State University.

Dave DeWalt

Dave DeWalt has more than 25 years of experience building innovative, industry-leading technology companies, creating billions of dollars in shareholder value. Dave serves as chairman of the board at Polycom and Mandiant and is a board member at Delta Airlines and Jive Software. Previously, he served as chairman of the board and CEO of FireEye, Inc. He also held executive positions at technology companies including Oracle, EMC, Documentum, Intel, and McAfee. Dave is a recognized authority on cyber security and was appointed in May 2011 by President Barack Obama to the National Security Telecommunications Advisory Council (NSTAC).

Jack Acosta

Jack Acosta has served in a board role for multiple companies. Previously, Jack served as CFO and vice president of finance for Portal Software. Prior to Portal Software, Jack served as executive vice president and CFO as well as vice president, engineering services, integration, and business management for Sybase, Inc. Jack was also the president, COO, and a director of Tanon Manufacturing, Inc. Prior to these assignments, Jack held various management positions at Ungermann-Bass, Inc., Atari, Inc., Diablo Systems, Inc., and Ford Motor Company.

Kimberly Alexy

Principal, Alexy Capital Management

Kimberly Alexy is the principal of Alexy Capital Management, a private investment management firm that she founded in 2005. She has more than 20 years of experience in capital markets, corporate finance and investments. Kimberly is a seasoned finance professional and corporate board member. She has previously served as the senior vice president and managing director for Prudential Securities, vice president of equity research at Lehman Brothers and assistant vice president of corporate finance at Wachovia Bank. Kimberly also serves as an active board member at CalAmp Corp and has served as a board member at Dot Hill Systems, Maxtor, Smart Modular Technologies, and Southwest Water Company. Kimberly has also been recognized as 'Best on the Street' in the computer sector by The Wall Street Journal and ranked as a top equity research analyst by Institutional Investor Magazine.

Robert Zollars

Robert Zollars brings 30 years of experience building world-class enterprises to Five9. He currently serves as Executive Chairman of Vocera Communications, Inc., an instant wireless communications solution provider, where he previously served as both chairman and CEO. He has previously served as CEO of Wound Care Solutions, Inc., CEO and chairman of the board of Neoforma, Inc., executive vice president and group president at Cardinal Health, Inc., and division president of four different operating units at Baxter International, Inc. Robert also currently serves as the chairman of the board for Diamond Foods, Inc., and as a board member for VWR International, LLC. He received a MBA in finance from John F. Kennedy University and a BS in marketing from Arizona State University.
