What Is A Transferred Call?
A transferred call, also called a call transfer, refers to shifting a call from one recipient to another person. Call transfers are used to connect the caller to another department or subject matter expert that can better assist in resolving their inquiry. Contact centers use intelligent call routing to try to minimize the need for call transfers and improve the customer experience.
Reasons for Transferred Calls
Here are some common reasons for transferred calls:
To connect the caller to the right agent or expert
To escalate calls to a supervisor
To further assist the customer by transferring them so they do not have to dial the number themselves
