We are thrilled to announce that Five9 was recognized as one of the 2022 Great Place to Work® and Fortune magazine Best Workplaces for Women, placing 40 on the prestigious list. While many might hope to claim this, Five9 continuously strives to be a workplace that both enables women to have a seat at the table and empowers all voices to be heard, regardless of gender.

To determine the Best Workplaces for Women, Great Place to Work analyzed the survey responses of over 640,000 women who work for Great Place to Work-Certified™ companies that employ at least 50 women. Companies must also have least 20% of non-executive managers who are women, and at least one executive who’s a woman. In the Great Place to Work survey, 95% of Five9 employees said Five9 is a great place to work.

The Fortune Best Workplaces for Women list is highly competitive. It’s the only company culture award in America that awards organizations based on how fairly women and those identifying as female say they’re treated in their workplace. Great Place to Work measures the differences in women’s survey responses with those of their peers and assesses the impact of demographics and roles on the quality and consistency of women’s experiences.

With women accounting for 32.9% of the global workforce in technology, the importance of building diverse teams is an ever-present need that is critical to the health of an organization. Five9 strives to support these efforts through accountability on DE&I metrics, creating space for female voices to be heard and paving the way for career development for women in the workplace.

At Five9’s recent CX Summit, the Women in Tech panel shared their experiences working in the contact center space, discussing leadership, technology and the challenges that arise when working in a distributed workforce. The panel shared advice on empowering women in today’s workplace, acting as an ally regardless of gender, and stepping into leadership potential. Here are some tips shared by the panel to support an inclusive workplace:

  • Allow women equal space in the conversation. Speak up when someone gets spoken over, when an idea isn’t properly attributed, or when voices aren’t respected. Give praise when called for and highlight the strengths and accomplishments of female-identifying team members.

  • Empower through advocacy, accountability and owning missteps if they arise. We are all on a learning journey, and a part of that means owning our faults and our blind spots.

  • Enable opportunities for growth and development by presenting opportunities as they arise, encouraging lateral moves, acting as a mentor, joining an ERG and understanding how you can support them as an ally.

  • Embrace change in the workplace. Rather than resisting, accept it as an inevitable and allow change to foster opportunities for growth.

Ultimately, the success of an organization relies on cultivating an environment where diversity of thought, background, perspective and gender are valued. Receiving this award highlights our commitment to equality in the workplace and moving the needle to pave the way and create opportunity for underrepresented populations. Five9 strives to be a workplace that empowers all employees to be able to show up as their authentic selves and feel seen, heard, and supported in every facet of their careers.
